Poor, clever, and obsessed — Rumpel begins in a primitive workshop. The player follows his origin story as apprentice alchemist and trickster. “Spin Straw Into Gold” is the legendary aspiration, not a starting ability.

Fictional alchemy with internally consistent rules — not real-world chemistry. Experiments consider materials, equipment, temperature, duration, and research. Outcomes are determined server-side. Gold, platinum, and diamond paths exist but require enormous mastery.

Bargain with merchants, bluff rivals, read contracts, and detect NPC deceptions — all within fictional gameplay. Cunning unlocks options and information; it never guarantees automatic success. Some rare materials require clever deals, not just gathering.

Alchemy mastery, cunning ranks, research tiers, lab upgrades, and discovery counts scale mathematically without a level cap. Season 0 does not allow gold transmutation — the engine supports years of future content releases.

Workbench, grinder, furnace, cauldron, storage, and research desk unlock as you upgrade. The workshop begins poor and basic — visual evolution is architected for future seasons.
